About Us
The inspiration behind The Paper Berry occurred in 2005 when the founder, Yolanda I Jones, was preparing for her son’s first birthday party. After visiting one stationery store after another (and an exhausting search online), she was unable to find any African American invitations for her son’s party. With time running out, she had to settle on a generic invitation where she printed the words out for his party on a home printer. She vowed not to let that happen again.
She began creating invitations for friends and family and the word quickly spread. In 2008, with a small line of products and designs,
she began selling her invitations to a local store in Cary, NC, but
wanted to offer her products nationwide..
In 2009, she acquired 'The Paper Knot', an online retailer of modern and sophisticated multicultural invitations. This allowed the collection of 'The Paper Berry' products to be sold in even more stores.
Yolanda Jones sold her products as imprintables, but dreamed of creating an entire album of African American and multi-cultural designs sold all across the country. In 2011, this dream came true.
The Paper Berry will no longer sell imprintables and all invitations will be ordered via the Stationery Album.
After conceptualizing the designs, she and her team of talented graphic designers went to work. The Paper Berry Stationery Album is now complete and will debut in May, 2011 at the 65 annual National Stationery Show in New York City.
